Dental Implants

Your quality of life matters most. Tooth replacement is about more than filling the gaps in your smile. It’s also about restoring your ability to chew properly, to speak with confidence, and to feel good about yourself. You want a restoration that is comfortable, permanent, and most importantly, undetectable. Dental implants allow the replacement of a single tooth or multiple teeth without relying on any adjacent teeth for strength or support.

Benefits of Dental Implants

There are many benefits to dental implants including:

  • Most natural tooth-like feel
  • Stability to allow you to eat your favorite foods again
  • Confidence to smile and speak in front of your friends and family
  • Clean and easy to maintain
  • Prevention of shifting of teeth, gum tissue loss, and jaw bone deterioration
  • Securely stabilize dentures and throw denture adhesives in the garbage, for good!

FAQ

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are custom created on an individual-to-individual basis, designed to replace your tooth roots. Dental implants offer a strong, durable foundation for either removable or permanent replacement teeth. Here at Grabill Family Dentistry, we ensure that the replacement teeth we customize for you will match your natural teeth.

Dental implants offer a multitude of benefits for any of our patients:

  • Improved dental health: Dental implants don’t require the destruction of other healthy, nearby teeth. It’s important to us to take the most minimally invasive approach and protect natural tooth structure when possible.
  • Better aesthetics: Dental implants deliver a beautiful, natural looking smile. The permanency of implants guarantees years of confidence whenever you smile.
  • Optimized comfort: Dental implants increase jaw stability and improve your chewing system, enabling better daily comfort and easier eating.
  • Convenience and durability: Dental implants are made to be permanent, meaning optimized strength and eliminating the inconvenience removable dentures deliver.

Dental implants offer a great permanent solution for a wide range of patient needs, ranging from a single tooth replacement to an entire mouth replacement. Replacing teeth with dental implants has a great 98% ten year success rate. We recommend this replacement technique for those seeking high comfort and longevity. With proper care, dental implants can even last a lifetime!

Who Qualifies for Dental Implants?

Virtually anyone who’s healthy enough to undergo a routine dental extraction and is looking for a replacement tooth solution qualifies for dental implants. Dr. Kolkman is always happy to complete an initial consultation to evaluate patient health, personal concerns, and any questions our patients may have regarding dental implants. Patients are required to have healthy gums and enough bone in order to properly hold the dental implants.

What are Dental Implants Made Of?

Dental implants are small posts made of titanium. Titanium offers high durability and strength, perfect for this permanent structure. All dental implants are root-form endosseous implants, meaning they’re engineered with the same structure as an actual tooth root. Dental implants are installed into the bone socket of any missing tooth or teeth. The patient’s bone actually bonds to the dental implant, creating a support system for whatever natural-looking crown is embedded.

How Long Does the Process Take?

The actual implant placement typically takes less than one half hour. More time is needed if a ‘provisional’ crown must be custom made to replace the missing tooth, or more implants, grafting is needed, etc.

How Much Do Implants Cost?

Since dental implants are more involved than traditional bridgework, they are typically more expensive, but often more affordable over the long run. Actual costs vary with the needs and conditions. Dr. Kolkman will examine and determine the appropriate treatment and cost with a x-ray to determine actual cost for your specific needs.

Credentials You Can Trust

Established in 1951, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) is the first professional organization in the world dedicated to the advancement of implant dentistry. As part of its commitment to top quality patient care, research, education and excellence, the AAID created a program to educate and credential professionals in implant dentistry known as the Maxicourse.

AAID Maxicourse graduates invest significant time and energy into dental implant-focused training, above and beyond their basic dental and/or specialist education. Because they have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dental implants and treatment options, they understand the big picture — and they’re dedicated to putting your smile, your needs and your health first.
